For many actors, after a long 8-show week, their one day off is time to rest and recharge. This week, we caught up with Caitlin Houlahan from Girl From The North Country to spend an afternoon with her. Get to know a bit more about Caitlin in her #DayOffDiary:
Hometown? Aurora, Ohio.
Where might we find you on your day off? Romping around Katonah, NY, working on our house we recently bought!
What got you into acting? A bunch of girls in my Girl Scout troop were auditioning to be small parts in our local high schools musical and I didn’t want to be left out.
What was your first ever role? One that would never happen today/shouldn’t have happened - I was a child in The King and I at our local high school.
If you weren’t an actor, what would you be doing? I’d be a therapist or a vegetable farmer.
If you could describe your experience with Girl From The North Country so far in just one word, what would it be? Joyful
What is your favorite thing about performing at the Belasco Theatre? The history and the spooky stories of the haunted theatre.
Who are you jamming to on Spotify right now? Usually T Swift, I can’t lie.
What are you binging on TV right now? Landscapers.
Read any good books lately? The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah 😭
One Instagram account (besides your own, duh), that we need to be following? I don’t have Instagram and it’s changed my life for the better!
Favorite coffee joint in Midtown? Frisson for sure.
What’s your order? Cold Brew with oat milk all year round.
Pickles on your burgers? Oh yes.
Pineapple on your pizza? OH YES.
What flavor of cream cheese on your bagel? Jalapeño.
We are finally getting into 2022 - do you usually make New Years resolutions? Yes I love setting goals!
What is one show you are dying to see in New York right now? Kimberly Akimbo.
Favorite Bob Dylan song? “Forever Young” (I love it so much it was one of my wedding songs)
Any Dream Roles? Penny in Hairspray. And maybe something that hasn’t been created yet!
