For many performers, after a long 8-show week, their one day off is time to rest and recharge. This week, we caught up with Molly Ranson from the Broadway revival of Plaza Suite to spend an afternoon with her. Get to know a bit more about Molly in her #DayOffDiary:

Hometown? NYC, Upper West Side

Where might we find you on your day off? At ClayHouse Brooklyn, the pottery studio down my block. Started taking classes last summer and I’m obsessed.

If you weren’t a performer, what would you be doing? It would be cool to make pottery for a living! I’ve also considered becoming a therapist, plumber, lawyer or astronaut.

If you could describe your experience with Plaza Suite in just one word, what would it be? SWEET!

Who are you jamming to on Spotify right now? Arcade Fire’s new album

What are you binging on TV right now? I’ve been watching The Circle with my roommate. It’s pretty addictive.

Read any good books lately? Currently reading How Emotions are Made by Lisa Feldman Barrett. If you’re interested in neuroscience and a perspective-shifting read about emotions, I highly recommend it!

One Instagram account (besides your own, duh), that we need to be following? MyGirlAnne makes me laugh daily.

Favorite coffee joint in Midtown? What’s your order? I opt for tea in the green room instead.

Pickles on your burgers? Most definitely.

Pineapple on your pizza? I enjoy a Hawaiian slice now and then!

What flavor of cream cheese on your bagel? Scallion.

What is one show you are dying to see on Broadway right now? A Strange Loop.

What is your favorite memory working on Plaza Suite? Opening night. After 2 years of waiting, the occasion felt tremendously special.

You can catch Molly, along with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, in Plaza Suite, which is now playing at the Hudson Theatre on Broadway. For tickets and more information, click here. For more photos, visit Theatrely on Instagram. All photos by Rebecca J Michelson/Theatrely.
